REMEO® Ventilation and Weaning Center
REMEO – Specialised inpatient centers
It can be a long process for a patient to progress from intensive care back to their home. For many long-term ventilated patients, REMEO can bridge this gap through our REMEO Ventilation and Weaning Centers.
These specialised inpatient centers are designed for patients who no longer need to be in hospital, but for whom returning home is not yet possible.
Following the principles of a continuous care process
The main aim of the REMEO programme is to improve the patient’s quality of life by providing all the services and equipment needed to help their early return home. Family caregivers can receive comprehensive training to allow them to carry out routine tasks at home. REMEO Ventilation and Weaning Centers are invaluable in helping patients to become more independent.
Home-like environment and state-of-the-art equipment
REMEO Ventilation and Weaning Centers combine comfortable surroundings with the technical and medical equipment needed to fulfil the complex needs of both patients and their relatives.
Comfortable accommodation with a familiar atmosphere
- With single and twin bed patient rooms, REMEO Ventilation and Weaning Centers are designed to provide the most comfortable, familiar environment possible for ventilated patients and their families.
State-of-the-art medical equipment
- The comfortable surroundings are backed-up by technical facilities for ventilation. In addition to the appropriate ventilation equipment (invasive or non-invasive), every patient is provided with oxygen, a suctioning device and monitors for recording their vital signs.
Working hand-in-hand
- All REMEO Center clinical staff are qualified nurses, specialists in ventilation or respiratory therapists.
- Every REMEO Center is closely associated with a pneumonologist, who is responsible for the medical procedures. Other medical professionals, such as physiotherapists, speech therapists and dieticians, also visit the patients on a regular basis as required to optimise patient care.
- Patients at REMEO Centers are cared for according to a comprehensive process, taking a highly individual approach to their specific requirements. As well as taking into account the current condition, medical history, individual wishes and the family’s situation/resources are also carefully considered.
Familiy support
- The work of the REMEO staff is focused on supporting patients and their families, providing them with the necessary skills for safe practice at home. Intensive training for carers is therefore an important part of the REMEO programme.
- REMEO staff do not just attend to medical issues. Our professionals can also help with other aspects, such as recreation and counselling, and can provide essential background information to those involved in the complex task of home care.
